Neck lift surgery corrects cosmetic problems related to the neck, jaw line, and lower face. A well-defined transition from the neck to the lower face makes an extraordinary impact on a person’s overall facial appearance. Unfortunately, cosmetic problems like excess neck fat, loose skin, neck bands, or a double chin are troubling for many people – even in their younger years.
At the initial consultation, Dr. Acharya will examine the patient’s neck to evaluate their candidacy for this procedure. He will explain the various ways the treatment can be approached, depending on the needs and specific cosmetic concerns of the patient. Dr. Acharya will also address any questions or concerns the patient may have, including what to expect from recovery and the limitations of the procedure.
During the procedure excess skin is removed through carefully placed and hidden incisions around the ears. Sometimes he also needs to tighten the underlying neck muscle that may be causing formation of vertical bands. This is called a platysmaplasty and is accomplished through a small incision under the chin in a natural skin crease. The result is a tighter neck with a well-defined jawline. You will be given post-operative instructions and a script for pain medication to help you prepare and plan for surgery in advance.
